Last night, I went to a show in Thomasville. The show was headlined, I guess, by Bloodline Severed with an opening by comewhatmay. There was a small turnout for various reasons, but both bands threw down all the same. Despite my friendship with 3/4ths of the members of comewhatmay, this was my first show seeing them. I had kept up with their development over the years, getting first crack at listening to their new music and hanging out with them whenever I’ve been home. Bloodline Severed I had never heard before. I had heard them mentioned by cmw several times in the past, but never actually listened to their music before.
The night started off rough since there were issues trying to get the sound equipment set up since it seemed like there was none to start with. There was a small turnout, essentially made up of the group that went with comewhatmay, the couple of friends that came with Bloodline, the staff at the venue and some other locals from the area. Sometimes though, the smaller concerts are the better ones. cwm came out strong, keeping up the energy that their music deserves. Couldn’t tell from the crowd, but then again, I have my reasons and issues with the crowd. Bloodline Severed came out swinging hard and keep throwing it down with as much energy, if not more, with heavier music and fire in their voices, fingers, and hearts. Both bands knew why they were there, not the crowd, not for the music, but for the audience of One. I felt God there, I was sharing the moments and experiences with the bands worshiping God.
We had a good time together, at the show and afterward at the Ruby Tuesday’s. I really want to see BLS again, as well as hang out more with my friends in cwm. I highly recommend you find them and go see a concert and show your support. These guys have their hearts in the right place for the right reasons and are truly blessed and doing God’s work. To all those who may thing metal and hardcore is the devil’s music, shame on you. See these guys and you’ll see that worship isn’t a particular genre or style. It’s a mindset and a lifestyle. These guys live it because it’s what God has built them to do. To worship and lead people to God by it. I am built to worship as well and will continue to support my fellow brothers in Christ that do the same.
