These are my thoughts on the event held at GameStop in Gainesville, FL.
Well first, Mrs. Six and I ate some Chinese we ordered from our
favorite restaurant. I then called my GameStop to check on the status of
the door, I was surprised to here that there were people already lined
up at the door! Well we then geared up the tF Attack Vehicle (Saturn
Vue) and headed out on our mission. Upon arrival there were about ten
people already set up in chairs and other random relaxation devices. We
got one of the best parking spots in front; I walked in to check out the
way the event would be handled.
Now that the GameStop was
under a new manager the event was going a lot differently than I
remember, they stated there would be no pre check in or check out
receipts given. I was number 12 in line; they were running a tournament
of sorts inside after 10pm. I was not interested in the tournament.
After we were there and while the tourney was going on they decided that
they were going to do the finalizing of receipts after they said they
weren't, it went fairly smooth except for the mix up and a lot of people
getting ticked off due to them showing up late and the line stretching
for so long, oh well getting there pays off early my friends!!I met a
lot of people I have met in other midnight launches. One guy,
OldSchoolSoldier, and I talked the whole evening and he promised to hit
me up online and get some gaming on!
After awhile the idiots
start to show themselves and boredom set in, a few younger guys started
kicking around a soccer ball like they were Pele’s after a few missed
kicks and then it happened; they hit the tF Attack Vehicle! I caught
one of them laughing like it was funny, I proceeded to yell in their
direction, “I don't find it funny, I wouldn't hit my car again.” then
you could hear a pin drop.
After Sitting there for what felt like
an eternity, it got time to organize the lines, this time I noticed
that a few guys had "stopped" to talk with their friends this time
OldSchoolSoldier beat me to the punch and told the manager about these
line crashers, I was really wanting to run my mouth, but the manager
beat me to it, and got the line in order. After a short raffle, in which
I didn’t win anything, we lined up. By 12:06 AM, I was in my car and
rolling past a line that stretched all the way down to the Books a
Million approximately the length of a football field; the main reason I
always go there two hours early.
I hope everyone else had a great
time meeting great people creating memories and got to see some funny
stuff like I did, GameStop never disappoints me.
