I
raced home from work preparing for the long lines at my local GameStop. As soon
as tF MrsSix closed her business, we headed over as quickly as possible to arrive about 8:15pm. We were greeted by three gamers who had already claimed the first three positions in line. I
dropped tF MrsSix off, like a Blackhawk helicopter unloading troops, and went
into reconnaissance mode to find the closest parking spot. After finding the
nearest parking spot, I claimed my spot in line and sparked a conversation with
the gamers in line.

First
three guys in line for the Gears of War 2release! GamerTags: ArealSeizure,
XXNoskcaj87XX, and AGiardina.
It
wasn't long until additional gamers started trickling into line behind us. One
of these gamers who joined our group goes by GamerTag: vipergrey. By this time
we had chairs out and look turns at playing cards, joking and, strangely
enough, were telling prison stories. tF MrsSix and I took turns guarding our
prized fourth in line chair position. Thanks, honey!

After
the crowd reached a nice size, the great guys from GameStop busted out the
charcoal grill and started cooking some hot dogs and providing the gamers with
soda! Keeping the grill going was quite a challenge - it took at least five
gamers to keep it lit.

As
more people started showing up, I started working the line and promoting tF. At
one point I was talking with a handful of guys at once like a preacher! One of
them was actually called their clan leader to have him check out our website! I
made sure to take the time to explain our clan concepts organizational
structure including our clan affiliates program, recruitment, webzine and other
facets tF is considering as we grow.
As
10pm approached the line was becoming increasingly anxious. It wasn't until
10:30 that those that hadn't prepaid were allowed, two at a time, to go into
the store and finish their purchases.

As
the midnight hour struck, the gamers were allowed into the store two at a time.
I grabbed my copy along with a cool looking comic book. With the loot in my
bag, I rushed off and jumped in my car for the journey home. As I sped off, I
waved to the many great folks I met standing, sitting, and milling in
anticipation for what is expected to be one of the better games released during
this Holiday season.
I
would like to thank all the gamers for being someone civil (for the most part)
during the wait. I can't forget to thank Gamestop for providing us with food
and beverages! Last but not least, a special thanks to vipergrey for such an amusing night
and some of the most memorable stories, I've heard in some time. I look forward
to playing with some of you online soon and hope that many of these gamers have
chosen to check out the site and all that we have to offer as a gaming
community!
